In order to produce the most effective graphic design solutions, we do our background research and develop as complete a knowledge as is possible about our clients and their position. We review the company's mission statement and position in the marketplace, its history, customers and investors, as well as how they are perceived by employees, customers and outsiders. We get to understand the company's philosophy, culture and specific goals.
We also review their competitors' positions and marketing materials for their strengths and weaknesses as well as all the clients own existing materials for coherency - or lack of it. With this information, together, we define the design parameters. This consists of a written mission statement and a list of 4 or 5 objectives that the design solution must accomplish. By thoroughly defining the criteria, a truly unique and appropriate solution will be achieved. Because we've learned each project's unique characteristics, needs and audience, we avoid designing from preconceived ideas.
And doing this homework up front actually streamlines the creative process. We don't waste time pursuing inappropriate directions. In fact, if the analysis is done succinctly enough, sometimes the perfect solution emerges itself. Our site contains 6 case studies that review crtical components of our branding process.
